Bank of Ireland Offshore Celebrates 25 Years in the Isle of Man
Bank of Ireland (I.O.M.) Limited recently hosted a business function at the Sefton
Hotel, Douglas, to celebrate its 25th Anniversary on the Island.
The bank first opened its doors for business in Finch Road in July 1981, and over
the last 25 years has grown steadily to establish itself as a major player in the
offshore banking sector on the Island. Bank of Ireland now operates from its premises
in Christian Road, Douglas, and recently announced that deposit levels have exceeded
£2 billion.
The event was attended by senior Bank of Ireland Group representatives as well as
guests from the Manx government and members of the local business community. Guests
enjoyed champagne and canapés with a local traditional band, Skeeal, providing the
musical entertainment and adding a Manx flavour to the event.
Addressing the guests at the event, Michael McKay, Chief Operating Officer of Bank
of Ireland (I.O.M.) Limited, commented on this milestone in the company’s history,
“The Isle of Man has proved to be an excellent base on which we have been able to
successfully build our business over the past 25 years. Just as the Isle of Man
has grown from strength to strength over the period, we too have successfully developed
our business. We remain committed to the Isle of Man and have ambitious growth plans
for the future. We look forward to continuing to work closely with all our business
partners on the Island in future to drive the bank forward to the next stage in
its development.”
